4. Stila’s Perfectly Poreless Putty Perfector

This new product is soon to be a cult favorite. I don’t know how it works its magic but as you can see in the photo above it retains that natural look without needing any blush or bronzer. $39 at

5. Dior’s Glow Maximizer Primer

I have found that some radiant primers don’t blend well with foundation or powder, leaving you with a streaky or crumbly mess, which defeats the whole purpose. Not this primer! It blends perfectly and can also be mixed with your foundation for extra glow. $42 at

6. Tom Ford Lipcolor

Another cult favorite! I’ve tried almost every texturizing spray from the cheaper brands to more high end brands like this Oribe one. While it may be expensive than others a little goes a long way. It’s worth the investment!! You can also buy a travel size for your purse.  I promise you will not be disappointed. Even my fiances 17yr old son stole a bottle from me because he loved it so much. Now he doesn’t use anything else. $42 at

Fellow brunettes… I LOVE this color for fall!!! It looks darker on the stick but when it’s on its a warm romantic rosey color that’s gorgeous with a brown smokey eye or even with just eye liner. Add a bit of nude to lighten it up or for that popular ombré look. $27.00 at

Have fun shopping gorgeous!!!

So many Bars….Where to Start

If you’re like me you’ve gone into a health food store to find something healthy to snack on and then you realize there are more than 20 different brands of bars and within the brands a gob of flavor options. Years ago, my first inclination was to grab a cliff bar because that was the only one I had heard of….does the same thing happen to you?

Even grocery stores have jumped into the fitness bar game, showcasing Clif bars, Laura bars, Luna Bars, Kind Bars etc. How do you choose?

First, it depends on what you are trying to do – but since many of us are trying to build muscle while loosing fat, I’d suggest starting with what I call CHOP (Calories/Carbs, Healthy Fat, Other Ingredients, Protein).

Calories I look for a bar that has 200 calories or less for a snack or 250-300 for a meal replacement

Carbohydrates Carbs aren’t bad – they give you energy, but many times in protein bars, the carbs come from sugar so choose one that is low in sugar but with at least 4 grams of fiber

Healthy Fats Monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats are good for you fats so choose a bar with under 5 grams of fat and low bad for you fat – saturated fat.

Other ingredients The ingredients list will give you a huge amount of information on whether the bar is a good choice. Make sure you recognize the list of ingredients – if you don’t know what it is – why would you put it in your body? Since ingredients start by volume – make sure protein is listed first.

Protein Look for a bar that has around 15-20 grams of protein which is about how much your body can process in one sitting. Ones with less are essentially a candy bar and not going to help you build muscle and lose fat.

My current favorite bar is the Quest Bar – try the double chocolate chunk. Calories: 160 Carbohydrates: 25g (16g dietary fiber) Healthy Fat: 3.5 (2.5g saturated fat) Other Ingredients: 1g sugar Protein: 20g and it tastes delicious.
